Case Studies: Case 1

Two Rows of Perforated Tiles with Two CRAC Units

This layout consists of two CRAC units situated at the ends of two rows of perforated tiles. Many data centers utilize this basic hot aisle-cold aisle arrangement for server racks.

The following figure shows a color plot of the distribution of the airflow rates. Because of the large air velocities under the raised floor, there is a significant maldistribution of the flow. The flow rates are lowest near the CRAC units and largest in the middle of the cold aisle.
