Case Studies: Case 2

Effect of Increasing the Height of the Raised Floor

The layout of the tiles and CRAC units is identical to that in the first example. However, the plenum height is increased to study its effect on airflow distribution.

An increase in the plenum height reduces the horizontal air velocity, and hence the pressure variation, in the plenum. Consequently, an increase in plenum height makes the airflow distribution more uniform. The airflow distribution for the present layout is shown in the following figure. A comparison with these results with those for Case 1 shows that the current distribution is more uniform.
